One is to establish which lexical items with metaphorical meanings are included in textbooks and how they are used in language classes vs. subject-matter classes. The aim is also to determine the ways in which metaphor is used in textbooks in teaching L1 and L2.<br><br>Guidelines will be created for teachers on how to use metaphor in class and raise learners\u2019 awareness of the link between literal and metaphorical meanings of lexical items.
